How do you check for mold?
When buying a new house, or renting a home or apartment building, you want to keep you and your family healthy. Checking for mold is an important step but can cost up to $500 dollars. To save some money here are some common places SERVPRO finds mold.
- Outside walls - Where the carpet meets the outside wall is an easy place to check for mold. Pull up a bit of carpet to check if there is mold or rust on the tack strip.
- Under sinks - Check to see if the wood underneath the sink is warped or chipping. This could be a sign of a previous water damage.
- Window ledges - The drywall surrounding the windows should be clean. If there is cracking or water staining around the window there could be mold growing behind the wall.
