Why does mold grow?

Mold growing behind cabinets.

The reason for mold growing behind these cabinets is due to excess moisture. Mold needs organic material, moisture, and about 48hrs to grow. The cabinets were a perfect place for the mold to grow once they got wet.

The cabinets were receiving moisture from a slow leak in the wall. The mold took advantage of the moisture and started to grow quickly. The owners of the home didn't know the mold was behind the cabinets until they started to smell the musty odor.
